Mr.Amongba Awine Ebenezer is the founder of the Akanyoweh Foundation. He enjoyed sponsorships from the Kasena Nankana Municipality and the Catholic Church during his School days in the 2000s as physically challenged and brilliant but needy students.
After completing senior high school, he joined the Ghana Education Service at paga in 2008 and doing business at the same time in Navrongo town. It was during this period he became to help students with their fees and educational materials.
In 2013, he left the Ghana Education Service at paga and became a sell agent for Enterprise Life Insurance. He had risen in the ranks and files and is now a consultant at Enterprise Life Insurance.
In 2015, Mr. Amongba conceived the idea of forming a foundation that would help needy students and others to achieve their dream goals. He pulls in a few friends together to given birth to Akanyoweh Foundation on 15th October 2015.
The foundation derives its support from the contributions of friends.
Akanyoweh Foundation (AF) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profitable organisation. It is registered with the Registrar General Department, Social Welfare Offices in the Kassena Municipal, Chana Paga District, Bulsa North Municipal and Bulsa South District. It has also gained recognition from the GES, and Health Directors of the respective Municipals and District Assemblies.
Akanyoweh Foundation aspires to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalised groups by adopting strategies that improve community initiates, participation, skill training, sensitisation and health.
Founded in 2015, it assists brilliant but needy students, widows, and women groups. It has expanded its mission to include human rights advocacy, climate change, health and skills training.
We are comprised of a diverse and dynamic group of competent people who have volunteered their time and resources to run the AF. Our members include Accountants, Administrators, Researchers, Academicians, Nurses and Doctors

Our vision is to provide marginalised individuals with opportunities to bridge the gap between the marginalised and economically well-placed in society.

Our main objective is to provide the youth, widows and women groups, and farmers with professional skills; develop viable sustainable economic ventures and advice on health-related issues.

Geographical Coverage
Akanyoweh is a registered NGO approved to conduct programs and run activities in the Upper East Region of Ghana and beyond. Its current working MMDAs /DA are the Kassena Nankana Municipal, Chana-page District Assembly, Builsa North Municipal and Builsa South District.
It collaborates with the Ghana Education Service, Social Welfare Departments, National Health Insurance Scheme, Ghana Health Service, and Human Rights and Administrative Justice in this MMDAs /DAs. It has plans to extend it coverage to other areas and department as well.
Major Activities Completed and Achievement
Akanyoweh Foundation has achieved success in many areas. This achievement can be outlined as follows
Akanyoweh Foundation has picked students from primary six who were entering Junior School till they completed JHS and are now either in professional or academic institutions. The package was fees, books, clothes and semi-quarterly health screening.
The next major project was on capacity building on SMS for businessmen and women which was a great success. It also carried out work on COVID-19 successfully. The Sixteen Killer Tropical Disease run together with partner NGOs was a plus.
The NHIS card registration for freshers and renewals for needy persons and the aged for the Kassena Nankana and Builsa Districts was very successful. It was done in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Department of Social Welfare.
